VANCOUVER - Several dozen students and fans gathered at David Thompson secondary in Vancouver Tuesday hoping a for a glimpse of the stars on the set of Twilight: New Moon.

They were not disappointed.

A few lucky Twilighters saw series author Stephenie Meyer beyond the barricades set up outside the school cafeteria where filming is taking place.

A single officer from the Vancouver Police Department is keeping the crowd in line.

The four books penned by Meyer have sold millions of copies and spawned an army of fans worldwide.

Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella Swan, was also seen on set today. Robert Pattinson, who plays vampire Edward Cullen, was not in evidence today.

The halls and cafeteria at David Thompson have been redecorated to resemble the high school at Fork Washington, where the Twilight stories take place.

Forks Spartans flags, banner and trophies were brought in to complete the look.

While the crowd was composed mainly of teens from the school, some older fans made the trek to south Vancouver when word got out on Twitter and The

Vancouver Sun website Monday night.

Thompson student Simrit Sian, 14, skipped her science class to join the fans watching the action.

She was hoping to see Taylor Lautner, who plays werewolf Jacob Black, a rival to vampire Edward for Bella's affection.

"He's so hot," Sian said of Lautner.

Thirty-two-year-old Katrina Bergen is a live casting artist who came to the set on the chance she might get a cast of a movie star's hand. She has reread all four Twilight books over the past six days.

"I don't know why it appeals so much," said Bergen. "It's just a great love story."

In the past few weeks, fans have been running off their feet to catch glimpse of the stars around the city. Film crews have been spotted at Minnekhada Regional Park in Coquitlam, in Pitt Meadows and on location at Tofino near Long Beach.

Pattinson was seen dining at Glowbal Grill and Satay Bar in Vancouver's trendy Yaletown last week. A call to the manager confirmed that the teen heartthrobs frequent the restaurant "two or three times a week."

Sigh,,,this is one of the things that bugged me in the movie...because in the book ...Forks High School doesn't have any hallways...... all the classrooms, office, and lunchroom are seperate buildings

That is so weird to me too.. i wonder if the author just wasnt putting two and two together with that one? cause why would they have an outside school in the wettest place in the us? lol i mean in california, can totally see, but Forks? lol..

Maybe that's the way it really is. I mean, maybe she didn't just make up the idea of it being, in a sense, an outdoor school. There is a real town called Forks. So it wouldn't be such a long shot to say everything is outside. One of these days I shall go there and see for myself.

WEll since she lives in AZ then maybe that's the type of schools they have there...it would make sense there all sunny and hardly any rain...but yeah looking back it doesn't make sense there in Forks with all the rain, the kids would be constantly sick

I still wish they would stick more to the books with little details like that. I mean if in the book there are hallways then it should be the same as in the movie. Some directors like to make it their "own" and sometimes it doesn't do the book justice. Most people want to see it the way they read it.

Of course everyone is gonna see it in their heads differently so you can't make it perfect but you can definitely make it as close to book as you can get

True about the everyone seeing things differently in their heads...my original thought of what Edward would look like is probably different from what yours was/is...I wish things that were clearly stated in the book though were kept like they were stated. Simple things like the Biology teachers name, the color of the kitchen cabinets, ugggh i had something else in mind too when I started this sentence and now can't think of what it was...lack of sleep sucks.

Another thing...Wasn't Alice's hair black? Or did I get that wrong. I could have sworn that was...

I am confused, i have kristen stewart on my friends list on myspace, and she posted a status update yesterday sayin they were starting to filn New Moon may 25-30 lol.. first off , isnt that a short time to film a huge movie, and second, i htought they were already filiming lol i am so confused.

I thought they were filming?!?! No, that can't be right. They have to be. They wouldn't have enough time to finish if they didn't start.

ITs weird because they have been in Vancover for a while now.. and suposedly filming.. i wonder if that is just the italy scenes.. or something.. to be honest, i dont give a rats arse when or how or why they film.. i just want the movie to come out asap LOL..

I was just reading in a twilight myspace group, someone said they had heard Rob only has two scenes in new moon!!

NO! That would suck. He can't just have two. He is what makes the book. Well, okay so is Bella. But you can't just leave him out.

He's gotta have more then that...just his leaving would take two scenes....one the party and one him telling her goodbye...then rescuing him and coming home would be at least two more scenes there...and then afterwords there's a lot that happens. I always think that he comes home just at the tailend of the book, but of course I"m wrong...you'd think after reading it so many times I'd remember that, but what can I say I'm a blonde...
